Abstract. The creation of genetically modified poultry with qualitatively new traits is one of the promising areas of modern science. An important element of the technology is the possibility to obtain transgenic offspring. In this regard, the study of the quality indicators of male reproductive cells after genetic modifications is of particular interest. The work was conducted to determine the effect of transgenesis on the quality of roosters’ reproductive cells during the transformation of spermatogenic testicular cells in vivo. The object of the study was the transgenic and non-transgenic Russian white roosters. The modified poultry was obtained using a lentiviral vector. In the first group of 5 birds, the preparation was injected directly into the testicles of adults once at the age of 3 months. In the second group of 5 birds, the preparation was injected twice at the age of 3 and 4 months. Upon reaching maturity, the dynamics of the seed quality of transgenic roosters was compared with the control. In particular, we determined the proportion of live spermatozoa in the ejaculate and their motility, the proportion of spermatozoa with abnormal morphology and seed cryoresistance. With a double injection of the viral preparation, a number of indicators of sperm quality in transgenic roosters (the second group) significantly decreased compared to the control. At the age of 6 months, the proportion of live sperm in the ejaculate and their motility were lower than in the control group by 4.1% and 10.6%, respectively. At the age of 9 months, these differences were leveled and did not exceed 2.4%. With a single injection of the viral preparation, the difference between the test group and the control group in the studied parameters was insignificant. Both at the age of 6 months and at 9 months, it was up to 2.0%. Moreover, the sperm of transgenic roosters from both test groups was characterized by less cryostability compared to the control. The difference in the first experimental group reached 4%; in the second group, it reached 5%.
