Abstract. The study aimed to determine the relationship between Bradyrhizobium japonicum and Sinorhizobium fredii rhizobia species and soybean plants of varieties bred in the Primorsky Territory to improve the varietal cultivation technology. The work was performed in the Primorsky Territory in 2018–2019. The soil type in the experimental plot was bleached meadow brown. The objects of the study were highly virulent strains of rhizobia of the Bradyrhizobium japonicum (BM-88, TM-455) and Sinorhizobium fredii (TB-589) species as well as Sfera and Musson soybean varieties. Two-year tests revealed a complementary relationship between mid-ripening Sfera soybean variety and BM-88 strain as well as between mid-ripening Musson variety and TM-455 strain. It led to an increase in yield by 0.31 t/ha and 0.30 t/ha, respectively. Highly virulent strain TM-455 promoted an increase in the mass of 1000 seeds and the protein content in seeds of soybean varieties at the trend level. In the option of the treatment with BM-88 rhizobia strain, we registered a tendency to an increase in the number and weight of nodules on the roots of Musson soybean, in comparison with the control, by 29.9% and 32.2%, respectively. Correlation analysis revealed a strong direct relationship between the indicators of plant symbiotic activity and the mass of 1000 seeds (r was more than 0.66) in Sfera soybean variety, as well as the medium-strong relationship between the mass of nodules and the oil content in the seeds of Musson variety. A weak direct correlation was noted between the yield and rhizobial parameters in the studied varieties, except for the inverse medium-strong relationship between the mass of nodules and yield (r = -0.45) in Musson variety. To increase the efficiency of soybean production under environmental conditions of the Primorsky Territory, it is advisable to select the most genotype-compatible rhizobia strain for each crop variety so that the plants could develop complementary bonds with them.
