Abstract. The purpose of the studies was to assess the biological and economic efficiency of the new anti-cereal herbicide Evolution, EC (Clethodim, 140 g/L + quizalofop-P-ethyl, 70 g/L) in sugar beet crops in the Krasnodar Territory. The work was performed in 2014–2015 on leached low-humic super thick chernozem. The experimental scheme provided for the use of the tested herbicide Evolution, EC at the rates of 0.35 L/ha and 0.50 L/ha mixed with the surfactant Amigo Star (0.5% of the working fluid consumption), standards (Select, EC and Targa Super, EC), and the option without treatment (the control). The crops were sprayed at the phase of formation of 2–6 leaves of cereal weeds, regardless of the crop development phase at the rate of working fluid of 200 L/ha. The quantitative and weight assessment of weeds was conducted before spraying, in 30 days and 45 days after treatment, and before harvesting. The efficiency of herbicides was assessed by a decrease in the number and weight of cereals, as well as by a change in the yield of root crops. All species of cereal weeds (Echinochloa crusgalli, Digitaria sanguinalis, and Setaria glauca) were highly sensitive to the herbicides. Evolution, EC mixed with the surfactant Amigo Star showed a 90–100% efficiency without a negative effect on the crop. As a result, the yield of sugar beet root crops increased dramatically (130% relative to the control). In terms of efficiency, the standards were somewhat inferior to the tested herbicide. The results of the two-year study indicated the high activity of the preparation Evolution, EC mixed with the surfactant Amigo Star against cereal weeds in sugar beet crops.

Keywords: herbicide; weed vegetation; efficiency; sugar beet (Beta vulgaris); yield.
