Abstract. We studied the influence of the genotype on the lifelong productive and reproductive qualities of Simmental cows. The purpose of the studies was to develop an optimized breeding system for dairy breeds, contributing to an increase in the profitability of the dairy industry in the Republic of Bashkortostan. Depending on the origin, 212 cows that left the herd of the breeding reproducer from 2016 to 2018 were divided into three groups: the first group included 109 local purebred Simmental cows; the second group included 60 half-blood crossbreeds of local Simmental cows and Red Motley Holstein bulls bred outside Russia; the third group included 43 local Simmental cows crossed with Simmental bulls bred outside Russia. Animals from the first group were distinguished by the greatest duration of use (5.07 lactations), which was significantly higher than for the cows from the second group by 0.58 lactations; differences with the third group were insignificant. The highest lifelong milk yield was observed in the cows from the third group – 22,007 kg. They significantly exceeded the animals from the second group by 1,142 kg and the animals from the first group by 928 kg. The highest average milk yield per day of life was observed in cows from the third group – 8.30 kg. Animals from the first group were significantly inferior in terms of this indicator to their peers from the second and the third groups, respectively, by 0.58 kg and 0.62 kg. The cows from the third group were distinguished by the smallest age of the first fruitful insemination – 17.5 months, which was significantly lower than in the first group (by 0.6 months), and insignificantly lower than in the second group (by 0.4 months). The differences between the groups in terms of the reproducibility coefficient were insignificant. The use of foreign Simmental stud bulls is promising for increasing the lifelong productive qualities of Simmental cows under conditions of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

Keywords: dairy cattle breeding; Simmental breed; holsteinization; productive longevity; lifetime productivity; reproducibility coefficient.
