Abstract. The study aimed to assess the diversity of spring oat breeding material according to the adaptive response of plants to environmental stress factors in the Middle Amur region to use in breeding programmes to increase grain yield and quality. The work was carried out in 2019–2021. The study object was 27 breeding genotypes of spring oat of competitive variety test. The standard was the Marshal variety. The soil of crop rotation was meadow-brown podzoliс-gley heavy loamy soil with a humus content in the arable layer of 3.6-3.8%; pH(sal) – 5.1-5.3; hydrolytic acidity – 1.14-2.40 mg-eq/100 g of soil; P2O5 and K2O – 9.9-15.5 and 27.7-30.4 mg/100 g of absolutely dry soil, respectively. On the basis of productivity, the following breeding genotypes with the highest values of adaptability parameters were identified: variety Peredovik (genotype effect (GE) = 8.3 t/ha), Premier (GE = 11.2 t/ha), 434-07 (genetic flexibility (GF)=73.8), 437-05 (GF=82.9), 474-14 (GF=75.0), 383-10 (GF=75.5), 325-04 (resistance level (RL)= -4.0, homeostatic (Hom)=811.5), 462-05 (RL=-3.5, Hom=984.9), 339-11 (RL=-6.5, Hom=810.1) . On the basis of the mass of 1000 grains, the oat lines 352-10 (GE=1.9 g, RL=-1.1), 383-10 (GE=1.9 g), 305- 08 (RL=-1.4, Hom=937.3), 318-14 (RL=-2.1, Hom=780.6) and the variety Far East fodder (RL=-2.4, GF=39.0, Hom=1024.3) differed in high values of the parameters of the adaptive response to stressful environmental conditions. Based on grain hull content, breeding genotypes 434-07 (GE=3.8%), 433-13 (RL=-0.2), 377-16 (RL=-1.6), 325-04 (RL=- 1.1, Hom=374.2), 305-08 (GF=30.4), 474-14 (GF=30.4, Hom=266.1), 318-07 (Hom=352.6) were identified. Samples were ranked using cluster analysis (Ward's method). Five breeding genotypes (Tigrovy, 316-07, 325-04, 339-11, 462-05), which formed a separate cluster, are recommended to be included in breeding programmes to increase productivity. For selection for grain quality, it is advisable to use samples of the first cluster (Marshal, 403-16, 474-14, 333-08, Peredovik, Premier, Cardinal, Far Eastern fodder variety, 434-07, 383-10, 377-16, 352-10).
