Abstract. The research aimed to study the effectiveness of bacterial strains use to improve the growth and development of annual cereal fodder crops using the example of Sudan grass and mohar. Seeds were bacterised using Pseudomonas sp. UOM 10 and Pseudomonas hunanensis IB C7 producing indole-3-acetic acid. Azolen® biopreparation was used as a reference. Seed inoculation and watering of plants was carried out with a liquid culture of bacteria diluted to a titre of 104 CFU/ml. Sudan grass seeds were germinated in a dampening chamber, as well as in rolls of filter paper. The effect of bacterization on the growth and regrowth of mohar was evaluated in a vegetative experiment. Compared with the control, treatment with microorganism strains reduced the infection of Sudan grass seeds with root rot and Alternaria blight by 20.0-27.5%, reduced the development of these diseases by 9.5-10.5%, increased the wet and dry mass of shoots by 9.5% and 13.6-20.7%, respectively. The use of strains UOM 10 and IB C7 on mohar increased germination by 5.3%, led to an increase in the mass of shoots (raw – by 3.4-7.3%, dry – by 9.5-13.3%) and roots (wet and dry – by 13.8-15.8 %), contributed to the growth of plants after pruning (compared to the control, the wet weight of the shoots was more by 5.9-8.8 %, dry – by 10.6-15, 9 %). The use of bacteria had a positive effect on the photosynthetic apparatus of mohar plants. The total content of chlorophylls a and b in the treated plants was higher than in the control by 13.1-18.9%. In terms of the effectiveness of suppression of seed infection, the effect on seed germination and morphometric parameters of plants, strains UOM 10 and IB C7 are comparable or superior to the well-known biological drug Azolen.
